With its rolling countryside, historic market towns and award-winning coastline, you don’t really need another excuse to visit Lincolnshire.
Lashings of rustic charm and a pin-drop peaceful rural setting give it a ‘miles from anywhere’ feel. But The Barn Hotel & Spa is conveniently located just one mile from the A1, and a ten-minute drive from the attractive town of Grantham, with its celebrated museum and a whole host of excellent shops to explore. Make sure to pick up some gingerbread biscuits while you’re in town - they were first made here in 1740 by local baker, William Eggleston.
Along with being the birthplace of Britain’s first female Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, Grantham’s other claim to fame is that it was once the home of Sir Isaac Newton. You can even visit Woolsthorpe Manor to pay homage to the 400-year-old apple tree Newton was sitting under when he made his famous discovery about gravity.
But when your exploring and sightseeing is over, The Barn Hotel & Spa will be waiting for you to check-in and chill-out. Each one of its 103 rooms and suites is spacious, well-equipped and tastefully decorated. But chances are you won’t be staying in your room too long -not when there’s a 15m swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and gym to swan around in.
Make time for a ritual at one of the two zen-like treatment rooms. Then all that’s left to round off your day is to work your way through the menu of flavoured gins or local real ales on offer in the cosy Gravity Bar, followed by a meal that showcases the best of Lincolnshire’s bounty in the fabulously relaxed Barn Restaurant
