Durham Christmas Festival is a fabulous time to enjoy the city of Durham, with Christmas carolling on the streets, Carols for All in Durham Cathedral, and plenty of places to take a break from your shopping and enjoy the city’s hospitality.  Durham, with its cafes, restaurants, pubs, shops and world-class attractions, is a city to fall in love with.

Get out your Christmas shopping list … and start ticking items off.   

Durham Market Place is home to the Festive Outdoor Market.  Here you’ll find more than 30 independent local traders supplying food and drink, gifts, clothing and homewares.  Browse the stalls, and chat with the traders.  And if you need warming up there’ll be street food stalls supplying food, and hot and cold take-away drinks

In the Craft & Producers’ Marquee on Palace Green, there are over 120 stalls, and a wonderful selection of artwork, handcrafted gifts, seasonal decorations, homewares, clothing, festive food and drink.  Browse the stalls and chat to the stall holders.  They know all about what they’re selling – and in many cases have handcrafted what you’ll find on the stall.   In addition, this year, between the Marquee and the Cathedral, we shall have a number of street food traders where you can relax and refuel – take a seat and enjoy live Christmassy music here too.  An entry charge applies for the Craft & Producers’ Marquee: £TBC on the day at the entrance.
