Grasmere & Keswick in the Lakes

Grasmere  Grasmere is perhaps best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found." Set alongside Grasmere Lake, Grasmere is shrouded by a panorama of fells and mountains that provide the atmosphere so beloved of Wordsworth and the Romantic lakeland poets.  The poetic heart of the Lakes, where William and Dorothy Wordsworth lived and taught. The old schoolhouse is now the famous Grasmere Gingerbread shop, the perfect spot for a bit of a treat before heading out for the day. St. Oswald's Church sits across the street with the lovely Wordsworth Daffodil Memorial Garden around the outside.

Keswick  Keswick is a small and quaint market town brimming with authentic old shops and traditional pubs. It’s the most northerly of the Lake District’s towns.  Just a ten-minute walk from Lake Derwent (or Derwentwater), affectionately called the ‘Queen of the Lakes,’ Keswick is encircled by fells like Catbells and Skiddaw, England’s fourth highest mountain.  There is a fantastic museum in Keswick The Derwent Pencil Museum, which sounds dull but it’s actually quite interesting, highlighting Keswick’s significant role in the pencil-making industry thanks to its rich graphite deposits and is home to the largest pencil in the world plus lots more.
