Picturesque Pembrokeshire and the Gower Peninsula
PICTURESQUE PEMBROKESHIRE AND THE GOWER PENINSULA. The natural beauty of the Pembrokshire coast and the Gower peninsula are famed all over the world. Glorious sandy beaches and seemingly endless rugged coastline give way to the Preseli Hills, historic towns and little villages. We stay in the centre of the historic city of Camarthen for our base and ideal place to visit this delightful corner of Wales.
Day One. After our local pick-ups we make our way to Pembrokeshire in South West Wales and to the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel in Camarthen for our 4 night stay. With comfort stops en-route.
Day Two. On our wonderful tour of this beautiful part of Wales we take in the hidden delights of Tenby, considered to be the main holiday resort in South West Wales, with two superb beaches, old town walls with some interesting side streets and alleyways to explore. Tenby is always a pleasant and friendly place to visit. After some time here we make our way to the wonderful Picton Castle and Woodland Garden where we have included a guided tour of the castle and time to enjoy the gardens and galleries. Picton is regarded as Pembrokeshire's finest stately home and garden, situated close to the estuary of the Cleddau River not far from Haverfordwest, it is one of the most beautiful gardens and grounds to visit in West Wales.
Day Three. After a leisurely breakfast we head south through Kidwelly and make our way to the picture postcard resort of Mumbles, delightfully located on Swansea Bay. We have time to explore and have lunch before making our way to the Gower Heritage Centre where we meet our guided for a tour of the beautiful unspoilt scenery of the Gower Peninsula, designated an "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty". After the tour we return to the Heritage Centre for an included Gower Cream Tea.
Day Four. Today we visit St Brides Bay and Newgale Sands before making our way to the magical place of St Davids - birthplace of the patron saint of Wales. St Davids has a beautiful cathedral, the smallest in Great Britain, which is well worth a visit. From St Davids we head around the Preseli Mountains back to the hotel for our last evening in this beautiful part of the world.
Day Five. After a leisurely breakfast we make our way home with comfort stops en-route.
