RAF Cosford Weekend
RAF Cosford is a visitor attraction near Birmingham, featuring a guided tour created and run by this working RAF base. Discover how the Royal Air Force has delivered missions in its first 100 years. Home to the world’s oldest Spitfire, Cosford’s War in the Air Hangar houses a collection of both British and German aircraft from the Battle of Britain era. The Spitfire forms the centerpiece of the display, where the RAF’s frontline fighters, theSpitfire, Hurricane, Gladiator and Defiant are showcased with their German rival the Me 109, to tell a coherent story. Share the stories of the people who helped win the Battle, in the air and on the ground. A highlight of the new display is James Nicolson’s flying jacket and medal bar containing his VC medal, the only VC awarded during the Battle. Nicolson also flew the Spitfire on display at Cosford.
West Midlands Safari Park is a safari park located in Bewdley. The safari park holds over 165 species of exotic animals and features other attractions such as a small theme park. The park contains the largest groups of white lions, cheetahs, hippopotamuses and meerkats in the UK, as well as the largest lemur walk-through exhibit. It was also the first park in the UK to have the African big five game animals. This four-mile safari takes you through incredible habitats where you'll spot majestic lions, towering giraffes, powerful rhinos, inquisitive wild dogs, graceful zebras and more.
